Mavis with Spirit - Foreword
The field of mediumship and Spiritualism has been well documented, with many books having been written about mediums, mediumship and the spirit world. So why is this one different? The answer is simply-the author!
Mavis Pittilla has remarkable mediumistic abilities and tremendous knowledge about the mechanics of mediumship and communication with the spirit world. She is not only one of the worlds’ finest demonstrators of mediumship, her teaching of the subject is of the highest quality.
Her mediumship has been developed at the “coalface” of Spiritualism. Therefore this book is special in that it not only gives us an insight into the person, Mavis Pittilla, but also shares with us some of her knowledge and philosophy.
Mavis’s book illustrates how coming into contact with the spirit world changed her life at a time of particular crisis.
There is tremendous grief and suffering in our world today, many of us try to help ourselves through focusing our attention on the support provided within relationships. The closeness, warmth, trust, honesty and generosity which are most times characteristic of individuals’ behaviour towards each other can be a great strength in times of difficulty.
However, many people feel the need to know those they have shared a loving relationships with are still with them even after the transition we call death. In this book Mavis shares her understanding of how love survives death and how support is always available to us from another dimension of life which is known to Spiritualist as the spirit world.
This book gently takes the reader by the hand and walks them openly through the important parts of Mavis’s life, which clearly illustrates the beauty and simplicity of spirit communication, and how that communication can and does change lives.
One section of the book provides a unique insight into Mavis’s personal communication with her teacher and guide Mikosan, whilst another section is devoted to answering many of the questions often asked by enquirers into Spiritualism. Their comments thereon remove many a myth and provide a sound and basic understanding of the subject matter.
There is a hunger and thirst at this time for good, sensible and down to earth reading matter on the subject of mediumship and Spiritualism. Many people want to read and learn about these subjects which intrigue them, but often they cannot find suitable books that fit the bill. This book fills a gap in the market in that it is clear and precise, thought provoking yet written with a sincerity and sensitivity of rich experience. Its honesty and freshness is a joy to read.
